Carterville's Doyle, Christopher's Hargrove highlight AP All-State Team

The postseason accolades keep piling up for a handful of southern Illinois girls basketball players.

After taking home Southern Illinoisan Player Of The Year honors recently, Carterville's Alecia Doyle was named one of four other girls to the Associated Press Class 2A All-State First Team.

In Class 1A, Christopher's Amiah Hargrove was named to the First Team as well.

Doyle averaged 20.1 points, seven rebounds, five assists and five steals for a Carterville club that went 12-2 this season and finished fifth in the final AP state poll. Doyle shot 55% from the field and 40% from 3-point range, while knocking down 77% pf her free throws. In addition to being named All-Conference and Illinois Basketball Coaches Association All-State, Doyle scored over 1,000 points and has fielded offers from Southern Illinois University, Chicago State and Illinois-Chicago.

Just a freshman, Hargrove has already landed offers from Illinois and Arkansas State. The 6-foot-2 forward has interest from Oregon, Louisville, Indiana, Colorado and Florida International.

For the 10-1 Bearcats, she was named Black Diamond Conference MVP and averaged 23 points per game, while averaging 11 rebounds, four steals, three blocks and 1.4 assists. She shot 61.8% from the field, 41.9% from beyond the arc and 80% from the free throw line.

Like Doyle, Hargrove was also named IBCA All-State and All-South.

The Benton duo of Addisyn Miller and Ensley Tedeschi were both Honorable Mention recipients in Class 2A.

Miller, who will be attending Heartland College for softball, averaged 17.1 points per game, 3.7 rebounds, 3.2 steals and 2.5 assists for Andy Sloan's 12-2 SIRR Ohio Conference championship squad. Miller surpassed the 1,000 point mark and hit a school record 209 3-pointers, including a single-game school record of eight.

Tedeschi was AP All-State honorable mention last year as a freshman and averaged 10 points this season, to go along with, five rebounds, four assistant four steal.

Massac County's Farrah Castleman and Vienna's Addison Benton joined Miller and Tedeschi on the Honorable Mention team in 2A. Castleman averaged 16.1 points per game, 2.7 rebounds, 1.9 assists and 1.4 steals for a Patriot ball club that was 10-3 and conference co-champions.

Bent rebounded from last season's reconstructive ankle surgery for a dominant senior campaign in the post, featuring 65 blocks, 30 forced turnovers and a 9.1 rebounding average. The 6-1 senior forward also averaged 3.3 steals and 2.9 assists for a 12-2 Vienna team.
