Indians open season at home against Massac Co.

In the time Derek Beard has been at Du Quoin, the Indians have slowly climbed the ladder.

In his first season, Beard and the Indians were 6-4. Last year, Du Quoin went 9-2, before bowing out in the second round of the playoffs.

This year, with three starters returning Beard has his sights set on bigger things.

"We return one full time starter on offense in center Trae Horn and on defense we return two full time starters."

Du Quoin has a home-heavy schedule this year with five home games and four on the road.

The Indians open the season with back-to-back home games, starting with Massac County on August 28th and Harrisburg on September 4.

DQ travels to Herrin for a Week 3 matchup on Sept. 11 and will host Carterville on Sept. 28. The Indians finish off the last five games of the season with three on the road, starting with cross country rival Pinckneyville on Sept. 25.

DQ will have back-to-back home games with Sparta on October 2 and Anna-Jonesboro on Oct. 9 and will round out the schedule on the road at Nashville Oct. 16 and at Murphysboro on Oct. 23.

Last year, Du Quoin won eight straight, before losing the regular season finale to Murphysboro 46-13. The Indians hosted Monticello in the first round of the playoffs, winning 28-25, but lost to Williamsville 48-14 in the second round.
