Eagles look to keep playoff streak intact

For the last seven years Eldorado football has made the playoffs. In the last decade, the Eagles have missed the postseason just one time - 2012.

Joe Clark has no intentions of interrupting that streak as the EHS head football coach will return a team that went 5-5 last season with a first round loss to Bismark-Henning in the first round of the IHSA Class 2A Playoffs.

The season will get underway for Eldorado on August 28 at Boz Adams Field, taking on Johnston City. The following week, September 4, EHS will make its last trip to Chester as the YellowJackets will be leaving the Black Diamond Conference after this season and joining the Cahokia Conference. Flora was recently selected as Chester's replacement.

A string a three-straight home games await the Eagles after their return from Chester. Eldorado will play host to Vienna-Goreville on September 11, Sesser-Valier-Waltonville on September 18 and the Eagles will play Hamilton County in a Homecoming Game on Saturday, September 26, starting at 1 p.m.

The last half of Eldorado's slate is road heavy as the Eagles travel to Carmi-White County on October 2. EHS will host Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton on Oct. 9 in the last home game of the year and close out the regular season on the road at Edwards County on Oct. 16 and Fairfield on Oct. 23.

Fairfield went unbeaten in league play a year ago and finished 10-1. Like Eldorado and Fairfield, Chester, Hamilton County and S-V-W all made the postseason a year ago.
