Gallatin County disposes Cobden at Shawnee Regional

Carly Foster had a team-high 11 points for Gallatin County and Mackenzie Russell tacked on 10 as the Hawks knocked off Cobden 51-24 in the Regional Semifinal at Shawnee in Class 1A Tuesday night.

Molly Newton just missed out on double digit scoring, netting nine for Gallatin County (20-10), while Gracie Sauls added eight points, Audrey Jackson scored seven points and Halli DeNeal chipped in with six points.

Cobden's Jenna Hardline led all scorers with 15 points, while Abby Remsey finished with five points. Aubrey Fisher and Katelyn Shadowen each tacked on two points.

Cobden (9-23) built a 13-11 first quarter lead, but the Appleknockers were outscored 13-2 in the second quarter as Gallatin County got contributions from Sauls (six points), Foster (four points) and Jackson (three points).

In the third quarter, the Hawks outscored Cobden 18-4 and wrapped up the fourth quarter outscoring them 9-5.

Gallatin County will play the winner of Cairo or Meridian in Thursday's championship game at 7 p.m.

The winner moves on to the Wayne City Regional, where they will play the Edwards County Regional winner on Monday at 7 p.m.
