Bulldogs finish fifth at SIRR Tournament

The Harrisburg High School boys' golf team was fifth out of six teams at Tuesday's Southern Illinois River-To-River Conference Golf Tournament in the Ohio Division.

Benton edged Herrin by 14 strokes as the Rangers took the title with a 300. Herrin, who had the overall medalist in Josh Green, shot a 314 and West Frankfort was third with a 342. Massac County (352), Harrisburg (372) and Murphysboro (416) rounded out the field.

Harrisburg's Krayton Morse shot an 86 for the Bulldogs and finished just outside the Top 10 individually as he finished 11th overall.

Andrew Bittle shot an 89, while Ashton Hall fired a 98, Grant Wilson shot a 99,m Hayden Emery finished with a 108 and Evan McDermott had a 111.

Green had a 70 for the Tigers, while six Benton linksters finished in the top 10.

On Wednesday, the Bulldogs took third in a triangular at Hickory Ridge Golf Course as Belleville Althoff won the event with a 196, Carbondale was second with a 163 and Harrisburg shot a 179.

Wilson fired a 41 for the Bulldogs, while Bittle finished with a 44. Hall shot a 46 and Stan Devilder added a 48. Krayton Morse and McDermott both had a 50.
