Logan women end losing skid

CARTERVILLE - The John A. Logan College women's basketball team snapped its three-game losing skid Wednesday night with a 96-61 rout of Shawnee.

The Lady Vols are now 13-7 overall and 7-4 in the GRAC, while Shawnee dropped to 1-18 and 0-8.

Logan had five players in double figures led by Kaili Bacon and Destiny Cozart with 21 points apiece. Farasia Hodge had 14 points and 12 rebounds, while Skylar Miller had 12 rebounds, eight rebounds, seven assists and four steals.

Miriah Donelson also hit double figures with 10 points and Marion's Nia Marshall chipped in four points.

Shawnee was led by Nykia McGee with 17 points. Kameshia Moxley had 15 and Hailey Statam added 12.

Logan led 36-20 after one quarter on Shaniya Whitsell's 3-pointer at the buzzer, then went into the half with a 56-31 lead. Layups by Miller and Donelson pushed the lead to 80-51 going into the fourth.

The JALC men and women return to action Saturday at home against Rend Lake College starting at 1 p.m.
