Harrisburg hammers Wayne City in road win

Harrisburg put three players in double figures and another big second quarter pushed the Bulldogs past Wayne City 69-32 Wednesday night on the road.

Lotte Miller had a game-high 23 points, while Jessica Hopson flipped in 14 points and Karsyn Davis tacked on 13 in the win for Harrisburg, who improved to 18-0 on the season.

Brooke Meylor chipped in with six points for the Bulldogs, who also got contributions from Madeline Rider (four points), Gabby Adams (three points) and Alli Ferrell, Essence Sanders and Lydia Miller (two points).

Harrisburg started out slow, taking a 15-9 lead after one quarter of play, but in the second quarter outscored Wayne City 23-6 and matched that with a 24-6 effort in the third quarter.

The Bulldogs shot 46 percent from the floor, going 25-for-54 and were 27 percent from behind the line, while knocking down 14-of-26 foul shots for 53 percent.

Harrisburg out rebounded Wayne City 37-25 with the Bulldogs coming down with 28 defensive rebounds and forcing Wayne City into 13 turnovers.

The Harrisburg junior varsity team won 42-25, where Lydia Miller had 14 points and Adams finished with 13.

Mya King netted nine in the win for Harrisburg, while Sanders finished with four points and Tori Behrens had two points.

Galatia-Thompsonville knocks off Zeigler-Royalton, Johnston City

Kennedy Harris had a team-high 13 points, while Kate Bond finished with a double-double, scoring 12 points and pulling down 11 rebounds in a 42-28 win for Galatia-Thompsonville over Ziegler-Royalton Wednesday night.

Mallory Mays scored seven points, while Bailey Crisp scored six points. Chloe Mays and Emma Dixon both finished with two points, while Madison Murphy had five steals and four assists.

On Tuesday, G-T knocked off Johnston City 46-36, where the Bearcats put three players in double figures.

Harris had a team-high 16 points, while Mays tacked on 12 and Bond finished with 11 points. Mays tossed in three points, while Murphy and Crisp both had two points.

Galatia-Thompsonville is now 7-8 on the season and was scheduled to play at Gallatin County Thursday night.

Massac County beats Eldorado in non-conference action

Lexie Mitchell had a team-high 15 points, while Takiya Britton tacked on 13 points in a losing effort as Eldorado fell to Massac County 64-48 Tuesday night.

Rachel Stafford scored seven points, while Derian Corn finished with five points. Paige Munds and Jade Hise each finished with four points.

Eldorado was scheduled to play at Carmi-White County Thursday night and will begin play in the Lady Eagle Mid-Winter Classic Saturday.
