LeeWena Peggy Harris Chapple Hicks

LeeWena Peggy Harris Chapple Hicks, age 59, returned home on Wednesday, April 6, 2022 to Las Vegas, Nevada, after a lengthy illness.

Peggy was born in St. Louis, Missouri on June 25, 1962 to Margaret Mueller. She was adopted by wonderful, caring parents, Leslie Paul Harris and Audie Taborn Harris, who raised her in Rockford, Illinois, and where she lived most of her life with a large and loving extended family. She spent time living in St. Louis later in life and also Las Vegas.

Peggy was a graduate of Cardinal Stritch College and started her own literary publicity company in 1995, TriCom Publicity Inc. Peggy and her successful company were recipients of industry awards and helped launch the careers of many New York Times best-selling authors. Her company also created the very first website for Rockford Public School District 205.

Peggy had many hobbies - aka specialties - that she enjoyed, including a lifelong love of books, computers, movies, cooking, genealogy, dancing, remodeling and decorating.

She also loved traveling, both in the U.S. and abroad. In her lifetime she visited 42 of the 50 states, in addition to many international excursions that included the Caribbean, South America, Europe and North America.

She will be remembered for her open heart and loving home. Peggy was a warm hostess; friends and family frequently gathered at her home to celebrate achievements, partake of her signature refreshments, and swap stories. All who passed through her door are gifted with the memory of her friendship and love.

She leaves to cherish her memory her daughter, Lauren (Precious) Chapple-Love and her husband, Steven Hicks, both of Las Vegas, Nevada; her ex-husband and dear friend Marcus (Dora) Chapple of Henderson, Nevada; second cousin, Monica (Ron) Jones of Peoria, Illinois; first cousins Audie Taborn of Carrier Mills, Illinois and William (Alyson) Duncan of Harrisburg, Illinois; aunt, Darlene Sue Cross of Las Vegas; sister, Stephanie (Dan) Terhaar and niece Avery Terhaar, both of Fenton, Missouri; niece Alexis Hicks of Fort Lauderdale, Florida; in addition to a host of cousins in the Harris, Taborn, Hicks, Chapple and Mueller families. Janine Hammonds of Hercules, California and Carol Guy of St. Louis were more than good friends ... they were her sisters. She thought the world of cousin Meredith Anderson and "Aunt" Beverly Terry, both of Florissant, Missouri, and leaves behind many more.

Peggy will be missed by many ... but never forgotten. She was predeceased by her beloved parents, Audie and Leslie Harris; her "Mom," Margaret Mueller, and a host of aunts, uncles and cousins.

Services will be private for family only.
