Willis Jerome 'Jerry' Abby of Harrisburg

Willis Jerome "Jerry" Abby passed away on May 28, 2022, at 85 years old.

Jerry was born April 24, 1937, to Ross and Della (Moore) Abby in Harrisburg, Illinois, where he spent his entire life before moving to Fountainview Nursing Home in Eldorado in November 2015.

Jerry was an avid fan of St. Louis Cardinals baseball and a member of First Christian Church in Harrisburg. For many years he enjoyed fishing, boating and camping at the Ohio River.

Jerry is survived by his sister, Barbara (Abby) Oestreich of Apollo Beach, Florida; nephew Jeff Oestreich of Harrisburg; niece Kendra Oestreich of Apollo Beach, Florida; great- nephews Jeffrey (Heather) Oestreich, Matt (Jill) Oestreich, Jimmy Oestreich and Michael (Dani) Oestreich; great-niece Bethanie Oestreich; along with several great- great-nieces and nephews, as well as many cousins.

He was preceded in death by his parents, his brother Don Abby and wife Anna (Rector) Abby.

For anyone wishing to attend, a memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on Sunday, June 5, 2022, at First Christian Church in Harrisburg, with Minister Biff Moore officiating.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the staff at Ferrell Hospital in Eldorado for their care and compassion for Jerry.
