Verna Lee Keller, formerly of Tamaroa

Verna Lee Keller, 75, of Arnold, Missouri, passed away at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022 at her residence.

Verna had worked as a registered nurse at the Mineral Area Regional Medical Center and retired in 2005. She was a member of the Windsor Baptist Church in Imperial, Missouri.

She was born Sept. 6, 1946 at Bells, Tennessee, the daughter of Carlie and Edna Mae (Hill) Brooks.

Verna married Larry Keller on Sept. 12, 1964 at Pinckneyville, Illinois, and he preceded her in death on April 20, 2004.

She is survived by her three children, Susan (Jeff) Leonard of Columbia, Illinois, Larry (Jeannie) Keller Jr., of Bonne Terre, Missouri and Dawn Keller of Arnold, Missouri; two granddaughters, Victoria (Mason Meggs) Leonard of Freeburg, Illinois and Kristian Bacon of Columbia, Illinois; two great-grandchildren, Damien and Rowan Meggs of Freeburg, Illinois; two sisters, Susan (Wally) Kelley of Prospect Heights, Illinois and Theresa Brooks of Barrington, Illinois; and numerous nieces and nephews.

Verna was preceded in death by her parents, husband and one sister, Connie Brooks.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022 at the Searby Funeral Home in Tamaroa, with Pastor Dan Gremminger officiating.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service on Wednesday at the funeral home. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask; and guests are asked to observe social distancing guidelines.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin.

Friends are invited to make memorials to the family, to help with the care of Verna's daughter, Dawn Keller. Memorials will be accepted at the funeral home.
