Roy A. Mydler of Tamaroa

Roy A. Mydler, 80, of Tamaroa, passed away at 9:54 a.m. on Monday, Jan. 17, 2022 at the Marshall Browning Hospital in Du Quoin.

Roy was a chief electrician at Consol Coal. He was a member of the Bethel Lutheran Church in Du Quoin. Roy was a U.S. Navy veteran who was a life member of the Du Quoin American Legion and VFW.

He was born Nov. 29, 1941 at Du Bois, Illinois, the son of Edward and Lavada (Mann) Mydler.

He married Mary L. Nielsen on Nov. 29, 1980 at Du Quoin, Illinois and she preceded him in death on Jan. 15, 2011.

He is survived by four children, Wade Mydler and wife Jane of Du Quoin, Royce Mydler and wife Charlotte of Du Quoin, Alan Mydler and Amanda of Tamaroa, and Amy Ferando and husband Marcus of Ewing, Illinois; four grandchildren, Brenton and Hunter Burden and Waylon and Cash Mydler; and one sister, Virginia Wyciskalla of Tamaroa.

He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; one sister, Frances Rehmus; and one brother, Edward "Bob" Mydler.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 20, 2022 at the Searby Funeral Home in Du Quoin with Rev. Alan Kornacki officiating.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of service on Thursday at the funeral home. Everyone in attendance is required to wear a mask and are asked to use social distancing guidelines.

Burial will be in the Sunset Memorial Park in Du Quoin, where military graveside rites will be conducted by the Du Quoin V.F.W. and American Legion and the U.S. Navy.

Friends may make memorials to the Perry County Humane Society or the VFW Honor Guard and will be accepted at the funeral home.
