James Burnell 'Shorty' Gibbs of Carrier Mills

James Burnell "Shorty" Gibbs, 55, of Carrier Mills, Illinois, died at 5:23 p.m. on Monday, Jan. 25, 2021 at OSF Sacred Heart Medical Center in Danville, Illinois.

He has been cremated, and a family memorial service will be held during Memorial Day Weekend. Details will be announced later. Felty Funeral Home in Carrier Mills is assisting the family with the details.

He was born on March 13, 1965 in Chicago to the late J.B. Gibbs and to Norma (Cole) Gibbs, who survives.

He married the former Louvania "Dee Dee" Sanders on March 11, 1993.

He is survived by his wife, Louvania "Dee Dee" Gibbs of Harrisburg, Illinois; his mother, Norma Gibbs of Carrier Mills; children, Mesha Gibbs of Decatur, Illinois, James A. Gibbs of Harrisburg; Nikki Gibbs of Carbondale, Illinois, Xzavier Gibbs of Harrisburg, Jameson Gibbs of Harrisburg, Aries Gibbs of Harrisburg, Henry Hines Jr. of Bourbonnais, Illinois, Amber Hines of Harrisburg and Kyle Hines of Harrisburg; siblings, Cinetta Guyton of Harrisburg, Robin Gibbs of Carrier Mills, Carl Colbert of Lexington, South Carolina, Joann Gilmore of Mississippi, Edna Walker of Harrisburg, Pam Gibbs of Fort Wayne, Indiana, J.B. Gibbs Jr. of Los Angeles, California and Jay Rollins of Chester, Illinois; several grandchildren; and nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was preceded in death by his father, J.B. Gibbs; his grandmother, Juanita Lovejoy; a son, Michael Evans; two brothers, Allen Colbert and Keith Gibbs; and a sister, Charlette Gibbs.
