Lyle Eugene 'Duke' Davison of Du Quoin

Lyle Eugene "Duke" Davison, age 68, passed away at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2021 in his home surrounded by his loving family.

Duke was born on June 17, 1952 in Du Quoin, Illinois, a son to Thomas Edgar and Rose Julia (Powenski) Davison. He married Donna Marie Williams on Oct. 28, 1972 at the Methodist Church in Du Quoin.

Duke was a coal miner at Arch Minerals for over 20 years and sold insurance and real estate for Britton Insurance and Investments for over 15 years.

He belonged to the No Greater Love Ministries, the United Mine Workers of America and was an Elder at Christian Fellowship Church in Du Quoin. He enjoyed watching the Du Quoin Indians play football, hunting, and he deeply loved his family.

Survivors include his wife, Donna Marie Davison of Du Quoin; two sons, Dr. Isaac E. (Melissa) Davison of Du Quoin and Luke A. Davison of Du Quoin; one brother, Mike (Veronica) Davison of Lake of Egypt, Illinois; one sister, Julie Lunnemann of Pinckneyville, Illinois; and two grandchildren, Naomi and Abram Davison.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one son in infancy, Lucas Phillip Davison; one sister, Linda Davison; and one brother-in-law, James Lunnemann.

Private services will be held with Pastor Casey Raymer officiating. Interment will be in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Du Quoin.

Memorial donations are suggested to Hospice of Southern Illinois.

COVID-19 resurgence restrictions will be adhered to, attendance will be limited and social distancing will be enforced. All attendees are asked to wear a mask.
