In matters of importance, such as these you have posed to the candidates, I believe the people should have the right to have their input as to the outcome of issues such as these.

When it comes to matters that directly effect the welfare, well-being and way of life of the people, they should have their voice heard. It is not the business of the council to force these issues, or the like, on the people, without the consent of the people.

The first and foremost business of the council is to see to it that the city runs smoothly and efficiently, and that the taxpayers' dollars are spent wisely. I have spent my entire adult life, over 50 years, as a businessman.

I am also the pastor of River of Life Church in Eddyville.

The City Council should watch over the taxpayer dollars in the same manner as any business owner, church or individual in the city, and should not spend money foolishly on pet projects.

Those who occupy the seats on the council should not come there with an "axe to grind," which makes for a personal agenda that causes arguments.

Those axes should be locked up in the tool shed, and the council members should focus on the issues that concern the people. All the people. We don't need more of what we've had in the past. I will not be just the mayor of the council, I will be the mayor for all the people.

We are the servants of the people, not their rulers.

I'm for change; real change. For the better.

Let's bring some good-paying jobs to Harrisburg, Ill. It can be done. Your voice will be heard.
