A letter to our readers

To our readers:

Today's Harrisburg Register is the final Friday edition of this newspaper.

Starting next week, the Harrisburg Register/Eldorado Journal will switch to a weekly publication schedule, on Wednesdays.

Subscribers to the paper will have their subscriptions automatically extended to cover what they have already paid.

Although always well-supported by the community, the Register is facing many of the same issues that newspapers all around the country are facing - rising costs, and less advertising and classifieds.

Instead of publishing three days a week, we will pack all the features, community news, reported news, advertising, photos and sports that you look forward to into one paper each week.

The Register has been coming into Saline County homes since 1915, and we're not going away. We are just adjusting our business model to fit the times we are living in, to insure that we will continue to be here for you for many more years.

We will stay on top of breaking news and obituaries by making greater use of our website, www.dailyregister.com, so save the address in your favorites and check it frequently.
