Du Quoin area briefs: Grief seminars begin at Maxton-Rosado; in support of local health departments

<b>Grief seminars start Monday in Du Quoin</b>

The Maxton-Rosado Funeral Home and the Rev. Amanda Groves are teaming up for quarterly grief support seminars at the funeral home. The first seminar will begin at 7 p.m. on Monday, June 6 at Maxton-Rosado, 11 S. Hickory St., Du Quoin. Workshops will be held quarterly, free of charge, and will cover various topics. If you have experienced loss, if you are the caregiver of someone who is grieving, or maybe you have been through loss and can share in experiences to help others now on your journey ... you are who these seminars are aimed for. <b>In support of local health departments</b>

Miriam Link-Mullison, former director of the Jackson County Health Department, will discuss the value of local health departments, the challenges they encounter, and the public's role in supporting public health, at the next Southern Illinois Learning in Retirement meeting, 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, June 15 at Grace United Methodist Church, 220 N. Tower Road, Carbondale. She directed the health department for 20 years, and taught public health courses at SIUC. Masks are optional. A brief social period begins at 10 a.m.
