Two-car crash July 4 injures 2

HARRISBURG - A two-car crash July 4 resulted in injuries to two people, according to an Illinois State Police District 19 news release.

At about 9 p.m. on July 4, a silver 2008 Volkswagen Jetta driven by 21-year-old Ashley Hartman of Stonefort was driving north on Illinois 145 near Garden Heights Road in Saline County on the south end of Harrisburg.

Hartman's car was directly in front of a red 2010 Chevrolet pickup truck driven by 18-year-old Brandon Hambleton of Carrier Mills.

Hartman's car signaled to turn left into a private drive and slowed to turn.

According to the accident report, Hambleton looked away from the road and failed to notice Hartman's car slowing down and struck Hartman's car in the rear.

Hartman and a 2-year-old passenger were taken by ambulance to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. Hambleton and the other passengers in Hartman's car were uninjured.

Hambleton was cited for driving too fast for conditions/failure to reduce speed to avoid an accident.
