SIC theater alumni celebrate 20 years of summer shows

HARRISBURG – Summer theater director Hannah Drake said she was able to participate as a very young child in Southeastern Illinois College's Junior Falcons first summer show in 1997.

"I was just a wee little fifth grader," she told the audience Friday night, prior to a theater alumni version of "Seussical."

While she directed the same musical the weekend prior, this show featured several veterans of summer musical performances, other SIC productions and some SIC staff.

One such theater alumna, Angela Wilson, is the college's marketing coordinator. She said she enjoyed her recent stint on the stage, where she portrayed one of the "Bird Girls."

"I was in a couple of the earliest shows in the SIC theater and I just had a blast being back on stage with our talented young performers and some of our alumni," Wilson said. "I didn't realize how much I had missed performing."

Besides Wilson and Drake, other theater alumni and SIC staff performers included Dylan Comer, Jake Bartok, Jaden Roper, Jillian Miller, Zach Mitchell, Sarah Baldwin, Callie Smith, Melody Ossi, Gabriella Tison, Reagan Gray, Cory Garmane and Sara DeNeal.
