Sympson retires as Chester Chamber director

Randall to take over for longtime executive

The Chester Chamber of Commerce has announced the retirement of longtime Executive Director Linda Sympson.

"We have been so fortunate to have Linda in this position for so long," said Chamber President Bob Welker. "She's been the glue that's held us together. We're grateful she's agreed to remain a member of the Chamber's board of directors."

Sympson began her tenure as a volunteer with the Chamber in December 2001. About a year later she became the executive director. During her time in this position she maintained Chamber offices in various locations, most recently at the Chester Welcome Center.

David Randall will be taking over as the organization's executive director. He and his family moved to Chester in 1994 and he graduated from Chester High School in 2001. He and his wife, Robin, live in Rockwood.

Randall worked in various positions at Chester Walmart for more than 20 years, including as store management. He joined Buena Vista Bank in July 2020 as human resources officer. "I joined the Chamber to get more involved in the community and help my hometown grow and prosper," Randall said.

Welker said the chamber is happy to have Randall on board. "We know he'll be successful in his new Chamber role," Welker said.

Sympson will remain an active member of the Chamber's board of directors. She expressed appreciation to the chamber for assistance and support throughout the years, and expressed the best of luck to the new executive director.

"It's been a great 20-year journey," she said. "I wish the Chamber and the community much success in the future."
