12 years for aggravated battery with firearm

Xlander T. Rollins, 20, of Harrisburg was sentenced Jan. 23 in Saline County Circuit Court by Judge Walden E. Morris to 12 years incarceration in the Illinois Department of Corrections and three years of mandatory supervised release.

Rollins pled guilty to the offense of Aggravated Battery with a Firearm - a Class X felony - and must serve 85 percent of his sentence, according to a release from the Saline County State's Attorney's Office.

On Sept. 16, 2011, an information was filed charging Rollins with aggravated battery with a firearm, a Class X felony. Class X felonies are punishable by a term of incarceration from 6 to 30 years in the Illinois Department of Corrections and a $25,000 fine.

The investigation was led by the Harrisburg Police Department with assistance from the Illinois State Police and Saline County Sheriff's Department.

On Sept. 12, 2011, a 911 call was placed stating gunshots had been fired at a residence on Granger Street in Harrisburg.

Upon arrival at the residence police learned Mario Godsey had been shot by two unknown black males, according to the release. The investigation led the Harrisburg Police Department to Rollins who was arrested on Sept. 13, 2011.

Assistant State's Attorney, Jason A. Olson, led the prosecution.
