Downtown Carrier Mills building collapses; no known injuries

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[What at one time was a popular downtown Carrier Mills store, Fields 5 & 10 cent store, has virtually disappeared as a viable structure.

First, part of the roof caved in -- and the collapse continued until mostly rubble exists.

Oak Street has been blocked by the Street and Alley Department as chunks of the building have fallen into the street.

The damaged building is located next door to Angel Scent Florists. Observors at the scene say it appears the two buildings share a common wall.
