City officials are asking for a court order requiring the owners to demolish the building or allowing the city to demolish the building if action hasn't been taken within 15 days of the court order.

The building, which has been vacant for some time, is owned by Allen Dale Gibson and Janet F. Gibson; Herman Hood of G&H Investments holds a tax sale certificate of purchase on the property, according to court documents. There also are liens held by the Internal Revenue Service in the amount of $1.9 million, according to court documents.

Court documents indicate the building is in an advanced state of repair. The roof has collapsed, the walls are building and is a haven for vermin and a fire hazard. The building was declared a nuisance by the Eldorado City Council on March 22.

The City Council plans several more such court actions in the near future, according to discussion at prior City Council meetings.
