Jeff McCabe called Central Dispatch with a complaint about a dead dog in an abandoned mobile home across from 605 Crossroad School Road. Deputy Steve Sloan responded, spoke with McCabe and checked out the mobile home.

As he approached, Sloan noticed a strong smell resembling dead animals, according to a police report. The back door was ajar, so Sloan entered the mobile home to investigate. There was animal feces all over the floor. Sloan spotted one dead dog in the hallway and a small cat dead on the couch.

As he walked through the mobile home, Sloan noticed another dead dog in a back bedroom.

Sloan took photos of the scene and turned the matter over to detectives for investigation, according to the police report.
