Harrisburg man arrested on gun, meth charges
</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[A Harrisburg man was behind bars early Wednesday morning on a variety of gun and drug charges after a wheel fell off a trailer he was pulling behind his SUV.
Harrisburg Assistant Police Chief David Morris arrested Joe Paul Stefko, 49, of 112 W. Clark St., Harrisburg at 4:15 a.m. Wednesday after noticing Stefko's vehicle parked next to a highway construction trailer on Missouri Street at Illinois Route 13 where road crews have been working on the bridge over Pankey Branch, Morris said.
Stefko had pulled over when a wheel came off his trailer. During the stop Harrisburg Police noticed three long guns in Stefko's vehicle and made the initial arrests. Later during a search of the vehicle and trailer they found methamphetamine.
Morris said Stefko faces charges of possession of methamphetamine, three counts of unlawful possession of firearms by a felon, possession of a firearm without a FOID card, possession of ammunition by a felon and numerous traffic charges.
