Laverne Sittig

Laverne Sittig, 93, of Harrisburg, passed away at 11:25 AM on Thursday, at Harrisburg Medical Center.

Laverne was born on November 15, 1923 in Harrisburg, Illinois to the late Leslie Earl and Lacie Lee (Potter) Roberts. On July 4, 1942 she married Vola Logan Sittig and he preceded her in death April 8, 2016. Lavern was a member of the Eldorado First Baptist Church and she dearly loved her sons, grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great granddaughters.

Surviving family members include her son: Gene Sittig and wife Buenita of Raleigh; son: Les Sittig and wife La Nell of Mitchellsville; three grandchildren: Drew Sittig and wife Jayme of Lynchburg, VA, LaNette Proctor and husband Jim of Mitchellsville and Lance Sittig and wife Andria of Harrisburg; seven great-grandchildren: Nathan and Noah Sittig of Brentwood, TN, Haley Culkin and husband Brandon of Mitchellsville, Garrett Proctor and Hannah Proctor of Mitchellsville, Brendan and Novelyn Sittig of Harrisburg; two great-great-grandchildren: Ellie May and Eva Leslie Culkin of Mitchellsville; granddaughter-in-law: Mandi Sittig of Brentwood, TN.

Laverne was preceded in death by her husband of 73 years, Vola Sittig, parents, grandson, Darryl E. Sittig and a sister, Geneva Roberts and brother Homer Roberts in infancy; and brothers: William Hugh Roberts and Kenneth Lee Roberts.

Funeral services for Laverne Sittig will be at 1 PM, Monday, May 23, 2016 at Reed Funeral Chapel in Harrisburg. Pastor Ed Nenonen will officiate. Burial will follow in Lindale Cemetery in Eldorado.
