Johnston City too much for CZR

</element><element id="paragraph-1" type="body"><![CDATA[The Christopher-Zeigler-Royalton Bearcats returned to Spann Field for their 2010 home opener against Johnston City hoping to grab that first win of the early season. The opening kickoff was just a preview of the troubles the Bearcats would see the rest of the night in a 36-8 loss.

Johnston City's Taylor Kirkman kicked off to the Bearcats to start the game. J.R. Myers was set to return the kick, but fumbled the ball and the Indians recovered the ball at the CZR 13 yard line to start the game. Junior Taylor Kirkman started the drive with a three-yard run. Danny Woodhall would add seven yards followed by three by Jory Kee. Isadore Garrison then made the one-yard run up the middle to put the Indians on the board. The Indians missed the kick on the PAT conversion, but a roughing the kicker penalty gave the Indians a second try. Garrison then ran the ball in for the two-point conversion and the Indians were up 8-0 early on.

Steven Dial ran the ball for a one-yard touchdown run, Marchetti adding the two-point conversion to tie the game at 8-8

The Indians quickly countered the CZR score on a three-play fifty-three yard drive and the rout was on.

The Bearcats will travel to Chester (2-0, 2-0 BDC) next week to take on the Yellow Jackets. Chester defeated Carmi/White Co. 36-0 Friday night. Johnston City will host Elverado-Trico next week.
