The Harrisburg girls' basketball team lost their second straight game, falling to Herrin 63-48 Thursday night.

The Bulldogs came into the ballgame banged up as Lindsey Murray was limited in her role with back spasms and Hanna Jones was out with pneumonia and parlay that with a tall Tiger lineup that went 6-1, 5-11 and 6-0 gave Harrisburg more than enough problems.

"We came in a little banged up but I feel like we did a good job of competing tonight," HHS head coach Jake Stewart said. "If we can eliminate that one bad quarter we seem to have every game, we will be okay. When they went "big" we had a hard time guarding them. On the offensive end we had problems shooting over them as well."

Shelby Boer led the way with 12 points for Harrisburg, while Ashley Ferrell and Murray each had 10 points. Whitney Younger added eight points, while Malayna Douglas and Lexi Griffin each finished with four points.

Herrin led 14-13 after the first stop, but Boer had a huge first half with all 12 of her points that helped the Bulldogs outscore Herrin 18-12 to take a 31-26 halftime lead.

"We played a very good first half," Stewart added. "We got up by nine at one point but our youth took over and we made a few mistakes while trying to run some time, which lead to Herrin getting four quick points to close the half."

The bigger lineup Herrin implemented in the third quarter allowed the Tigers to outscore Harrisburg 22-3 and 15-14 in the fourth quarter.
The Bulldogs will play Cairo at home Monday starting at 5 p.m.
