Mt. Carmel senior quarterback Caleb Hale rushed for two scores and passed for one other as the Aces added 28 points in the first half while pitching a shutout to beat Harrisburg 42-14 in the season opener Friday at Taylor Field.
The Aces (1-0) scored three times in the second quarter alone and built a 42-0 lead early into the final stanza.
With a running clock, Harrisburg was able to manufacture some points via the ground.
Caleb Thompson ripped off a 30-yard run midway through the fourth quarter and Payton Moss added a touchdown from just 1-yard out as the Bulldogs lost to Mt. Carmel for the sixth straight time to start the season.
Harrisburg had 220 total yards of offense, 190 of that coming from the ground. The Bulldogs had nine first downs and will travel to Du Quoin this upcoming Friday for Week 2.
