A day after draining 13 three-pointers in a fifth-place win over Hardin County in the GEC tournament, the Galatia Bearcats hit eight more Monday night at Norris City.

However, that wasn’t enough to fend off the host Cardinals, who bounced back from a GEC title game loss to deal Galatia a 77-58 defeat.

A 20-9 first quarter set the pace, and NCOE never looked back.

Coach Bob Belford’s Bearcat club dressed just nine players, and had to play a pair in the JV game as well, just in order to have substitutes available for that contest. NCOE took the JV game also, 40-33.

Three Bearcats were in double digits in the varsity contest: Denton Reed, with 18; Kobe Watson, with 16; and Kody Tennison, with 12.

Ben Genet scored 11 in the JV game to lead Galatia.

The Bearcats are next in action at the GEC/SEC shootout at SIC on Saturday. They play Shawnee High School at 1:30.
