52-year-old Du Quoin man charged in home invasion

DU QUOIN - A 52-year-old Du Quoin man - Kevin Austin - was arrested Tuesday on charges of home invasion and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon.

The Du Quoin Police Department received a 911 call in the early-morning hours about a potential home invasion on the 400 block of North Howard Street.

During the course of their investigation, officers received information that a handgun was used during the break-in. Home invasion is a Class X felony, while possession of a weapon by a felon is a Class 3 felony. Austin was arrested, charged, and transported to the Perry County Jail, where he awaits court proceedings.
