Shewmaker, Whitlock named to BDC East Team

Black Diamond Conference East champion Fairfield put four players on the All-Conference Team, while Eldorado was highlighted by senior Ladayyea Shewmaker and junior Aiden Whitlock.

Shewmaker averaged 10.7 points per game, seven rebounds per game and three steals per game, while Whitlock led the Eagles in scoring, averaging 14 points per game, 10.2 rebounds per game and three assist per game.

The two were also named to All-Tournament Teams at Vienna and Johnston City.

Fairfield's Kane Hixenabugh was named conference MVP and Wyatt Gilbert was named Captain, while Landon Zurliene and Noah McElravy also made the list.

Hixenbaugh, a 6-foot-3 senior small forward averaged 13.5 points per game, four rebounds and shot 59 percent from the field.

Also named to the BDC East Team were Carmi's Ethan Mahon and Peyton Edwards, Edwards County's Kaden Cowling, Hamilton County's Gus Walden and Johnston City's Austin Brown.

On the Black Diamond West All-Conference Team, Goreville's Trent Glidewell was MVP, while teammate Landon Albright and Chester's Ian Reith each share Co-Captain honors.

Recently Glidewell was named to the Associated Press Class 1A Second Team and the 6-foot-5 senior center averaged 11.4 points per game, 9.8 rebounds and 1.7 blocks in 22 minutes for the 34-2 Blackcats. Gidewell owns 15 double-doubles for a squad that registered 15 running-clock victories this season. Glidewell is preparing to play baseball at Southern Illinois Edwardsville, following his senior season at Goreville.

Albright was the Blackcats' leading scorer, throwing in 13.6 ppg and averaged 4.1 rebounds in 22 minutes for a Goreville that spent all season in the Top 10. Like Glidewell, Albright will be playing baseball next season at Shawnee.

Goreville also put Nick Compton and Luke Brown on the list, along with Sesser's Peyton Bates and Garrett Gunter. Christopher landed a pair in Bryce Pratt and Grant Gordon, along with Chester's Deondre Mart and Trico's Wilson Lodge.
