Gallatin Co. grabs No. 1 seed in Regionals

Gallatin County grabbed the No. 1 seed at the Shawnee Regional as Tiffany Sauls and company look to repeat as regional champions and make another run this postseason.

And in Class 2A, Harrisburg and Eldorado could set up a Lady Eagle Mid-Winter Classic rematch.

A season ago, the Hawks fell in the semifinals of the Steeleville Sectional after winning the Meridian regional.

Gallatin County (17-10) will play the winner of the Cobden/Dongola play-in game on Monday, February 10th at Shawnee High School.

A Gallatin County win on Tuesday at 6 p.m. will advance the Hawks to Thursday night's championship game at 7 p.m. against either Cairo or Meridian.

The Hawks are currently averaging 43 points per game, while the opposition is averaging 37 points per game.

The winner of the Shawnee Regional will play the winner of the Edwards County regional on Monday, February 17 at 7 p.m. in the Wayne City Sectional.

The Sectional championship will be played on Thursday, February 20th at 7 p.m., which will also include the Marissa and Goreville Regional winner.

Galatia-Thompsonville is the No. 3 seed and will be in the Goreville Regional, where the Bearcats will play the winner of Century or Hardin County on Tuesday, February 11 at 7:30 p.m.

Like Gallatin County, the Goreville Regional championship will be February 13th at 7 p.m.

2A

In Class 2A, Carterville grabbed the No. 1 seed, followed by Harrisburg (2) and Eldorado (3).

Both Harrisburg and Eldorado play in the Vienna Regional, where Harrisburg will play the winner of Massac County or Vienna on Tuesday, February 11th 6 p.m., followed by the winner of Anna-Jonesboro or Murphysboro against Eldorado at 7:30 p.m.

The Vienna championship is scheduled for a 7 p.m. start on Thursday, February 13th and the winner will advance to play the Sesser-Valier Regional Winner on Tuesday, February 18th at 7:30 p.m. in the semifinals of the Carterville regional.

Also participating in that sectional are the winners out of the Johnston City and Columbia Regionals.
