Hish leads Hawks to GEC win over Hardin Co.

Dawson Hish had a game-high 23 points for Gallatin County as the Hawks picked up a Greater Egyptian Conference win over Hardin County with a 54-52 victory Friday night.

Gunner Wilson also finished in double figures for the Hawks, tacking on 12 points.

Case Rister scored seven points for GCHS, while Will Henson chipped in with six points. Michael Scherrer finished with four points and Garrett Crane tacked on two.

Hardin County got a team-high 21 points from Gavin Smith, while Johnny Johnson tossed in 12 as both finished in double digits.

The Cougars' scoring was rounded out by eight points from Ben Vaughn and three points from Calen Banks, while Jake Vaughn, Jermaine Johnson and Lanceton Fields all scored two points.

Gallatin County jumped out to a 14-8 first quarter lead and led by 10 at the half, taking a 24-14 lead into the locker room. GHCS outscored Hardin County 10-9 in the third quarter and held on for the win after being outscored 23-20 in the final eight minutes.
