Wildcat boys 2nd at GEC
The Carrier Mills-Stonefort boys cross country team took second in the Greater Egyptian Conference meet in Pope County late last week
NCOE, which won the event, scored 48 points, while Carrier Mills-Stonefort had 72 points. Pope County (84), Crab Orchard (92), Gallatin County (103) and Thompsonville (157) rounded out the field.
Aidan Rollins was second overall, crossing the line at 20:00, while Robbie Hadley had a top 10 finish, taking fifth with a time of 20:14.
Malaki Metcalf was 20th with a time of 22:39 and Jacob Reeves was 21st with a time of 22:49. Brandon Hambleton was 24th with a time of 23:00 and Lester York was 27th, crossing the line at 23:22.
Other finishes and times included: Kyle Bristow (34) 24:20; DC Stout (38) 24:58; Dalton Stevers (49) 28:41 and Mason Kalodner (51) 29:40.
On the girls' side, Abby Whiting was fifth overall with a time of 27:44 and Emma Odum was 14th with a time of 32:36.
"I was proud of how the boys' ran," CMSF head coach Mike Eisenhauer said. "They finished second in the conference and Aidan and Robbie were all-conference. I was also proud that Abby was all-conference for the second year in a row."
Recently, CMSF ran at West Frankfort, where Rollins had another second place performance for the Wildcat boys as he crossed the line at 17:34 and again Hadley was in the top 10, finishing sixth overall with a time of 18:01.
Other finishes and times at West Frankfort for CMSF included: Brandon Hambleton (24) 20:01; Jacob Reeves (26) 20:22; Malaki Metcalf (27) 20:24; D.C Stout (56) 25:08; Mason Kalonder (64) 27:35 and Dalton Stevers (66) 29:43.
On the girls' side, Whiting was 17th with a time of 24:18 and Odum had a time of 29:23.
"Aidan ran another strong race," Eisenhauer said. "He was second out of 70 runners. Robbie continues to impress as he is only a freshman. Abby ran well today also. I was glad to see Jacob and Malaki close the gap and get closer to the number three spot."
Also, the CMSF boys won the freshmen/sophomore at Hamilton County.
Rollins and Hadley were No. 1 and 2 respectively and Metcalf was 11th overall with a time of 19:49. Reeves was 13th with a time of 20:18, while Stout was 17th with a time of 21:20 and Stevens was 32nd with a time of 26:05.
In the varsity race, finishes and times included: Hambleton (50) 20:47; Bristow (58) 21:16 and Kalodner (87) 27:17.
On the girls side, Whiting was 21st with a time of 24:31 and Odum turned in a time of 28:30.
