McClusky moves on to Sectional

Madison McClusky finished eighth overall at Thursday's IHSA Class 1A Regional at Franklin County Country Club and will move on to next week's Sectional at Mt. Carmel Country Club.

The Harrisburg girls' golf team took eighth as Massac County captured its fifth straight regional title and now have their eyes set on their 15th straight trip to the state tournament, should they qualify at next week's Sectional.

The Patriots posted a 319, easily beating second place finisher Zeigler-Royalton (379) by 60 strokes and Trico took third with a 380 to qualify as a team for Sectionals.

Anna-Jonesboro (381), West Frankfort (386), Carterville (397), Carbondale (398), Harrisburg (421), Herrin (423) and Benton (436) rounded out the Top 10.

Du Quoin (439), Goreville (453), Johnston City (304) and Murphysboro (238) rounded out the field.

Individually, Gracie Behnke was 38th overall as she shot a 108, Laken Moore shot a 110 and finished in a tie for 44th. Madeleine DeNeal finished in a tie for 52nd after shooting a 116 and Ann Marie Podoriscki shot a 198.

<b>Eldorado finishes ninth at Centalia</b>

At the Centralia Regional, Nashville took the team title with a 362 and Hamilton County's Kylee Vaugh was the overall medalist, after shooting a 71.

Eldorado, who finished ninth after posting a 440, was led by a 100 from Alexa Haenel.

Tegan Stanley shot a 110 and Adrienne Poore provided a 113. Althea Poole fired a 117, while Hannah Clark and Chloe Hopkins each shot a 124.

The 1A girls golf sectional will be held Monday at Mt. Carmel Country Club.
