Four Harrisburg tennis players enjoy Western & Southern Open

HARRISBURG - Four young Harrisburg tennis players visited and participated in one of the country's most historic tennis tournaments last weekend, a trip the group is looking forward to again next year.

Sisters Harmony and Justyce Hiatt, Will West and Myles Mattingly all traveled with their families and tennis coach Keith Dismuke to Cincinnati for the Western & Southern Open, hoping to see some tennis pros and soak in the experience.

The Western & Southern Open, which began in 1899, is the oldest U.S. tennis tournament still played in its original city.

Dismuke said the group had a better time than last year, when heavy rains kept them from participating.

"We all had a great time," Dismuke said.

The four young tennis players got a chance to be involved, demonstrating serves and strokes on the court, and helping with the tournament.

The four said prior to the trip they were looking forward to seeing tennis pros play before they returned home, which Dismuke said they did.

"We got to see some professional tennis players and what it's like at a pro tournament," he said. "We had a great time and we're looking forward to going back next year."
