Four Vols to participate in Atlanta Show Case

Four John A. Logan basketball players and coach Kyle Smithpeters will be attending Show Case events this weekend.

Logan sophomores Jay Scrubb, Eric "Boss" Boone, Jordan Cousin and Mark Lancaster will play in the Atlanta Show Case on Friday and Saturday. Coach Smithpeters will be one of six coaches in the All American Show Case in Melbourne, Fla., on Thursday and Friday.

Scrubb, who recently was selected to try out for the USA Under-19 team at the Olympic Training Center in Colorado Springs, did not make the final roster on the team that went 7-0 in Greece and won the FIBA U19 World Cup, but made quite an impression.

Fran Fraschilla, ESPN college analyst, told 747Sports that Scrubb was one of the best players at the trials. 747Sports rates Scrubb as the top junior college player in the nation.

Boone is a transfer from Tallahassee Community College in Florida where he averaged 12 points, 5 rebounds and 5 assists per game last season. Cousin has had a great summer after averaging nearly 5 points and 3 rebounds for Logan last season, while Lancaster shot 46% from three for the Volunteers.

Smithpeters will coach one of six teams at the Florida event. "It will be a good opportunity to work with top talent and coach against some of the best coaches in the nation," Smithpeters said. "Our four players at Atlanta will be able to see how they fare against the best talent in the nation."
