Six baseball 'Dogs named Ohio All-Conference

It was monumental season for Harrisburg, a team with no seniors, that fell just short of this year's state tournament after a super-sectional loss to Teutopolis.

With a team that won a regional, a sectional and the Ohio Division of the River-To-River, six Harrisburg baseball players were selected for Ohio All-Conference Monday by the league.

Three juniors, Will Gibbs, Jack Martin and Isaac Crabb, along with three sophomores, Noah Boon, Javie Beal and Will Holland led the charge for Harrisburg who finished the season 30-9.

Crabb led the Bulldogs at the plate and on the mound as the 6-foot-2, 200-pound junior had a .458 batting average and an on-base percentage of .572. Crabb had 49 hits, including 43 RBI and a team-high three home runs. On the bump, Crabb was 7-3 with a .880 ERA . He allowed 13 runs (eight earned) on 26 hits over 63.2 innings. He struck out 79 and walked 25.

Gibbs was right behind Crabb at the plate as he hit .432 with 60 hits, including a team-high 48 singles and also had 48 runs scored. Gibbs drove in 27 runs and struck out seven times in 157 plate appearances.

Martin was 4-0 on the mound, throwing 33.2 innings and allowing 10 runs (five earned) on 24 hits, while striking out 35 and walking seven.

Boon was tops for the 'Dogs on the mound with a 9-2 record over 64 innings pitched. Boon had a 1.203 ERA allowing 21 runs (11 earned) on 41 hits, while striking out a team-high 80 and walking just 26. At the dish, Boon batted .315 and had 28 hits, including 19 singles and one home run. He drove in 24 and scored 14 runs.

Beal finished the season with a .339 batting average and a .436 on base percentage and 38 hits, including 31 RBI and 23 runs scored.

Holland followed Crabb and Gibbs with the best batting average, finishing with a .369 and an on-base percentage of .450. He also had 48 hits, including 26 singles, 14 doubles, one triple and a team-high seven home runs. Holland wrapped up the season with 31 RBI and a team-high 57 runs scored.

In addition to the players selected from Harrisburg, West Frankfort was represented by five players: Connor Eaton, Gavyn Woolard, Bryson Dorris, Ryley House and Brendan Johnson. Murphysboro and Benton each had four - selected from the Red Devils were: Seth Daniels, Corbin Guthman, Kenny Peterein and Ethan Crabtree - selected from the Rangers were: Tyler Butler, Jared Shaw, Kanon Cantrell and Reid Bumgarte. Rounding out the All-Conference selections from here were Cameron Damico and Nick Hunter, along with Jase Mizell and Ethan Parks from Massac County.
