Bulldogs split pair of games at Hardin Co.

Harrisburg split its game over the weekend, falling to Carmi 2-1 and beating Hardin County 15-2 in five innings over the weekend at Hardin County High School.

The Bulldogs left 10 runners on base, had the leadoff hitter on base in five out of seven innings and had the bases loaded with no outs in the second inning, failing to score in a 2-1 loss to Carmi-White County Saturday.

Maddie Ladd, who had one of four hits for Harrisburg on the day, drove in Mya King (1-1) in the fourth inning to cut the deficit to one. Karsyn Davis (1-2) and MaKayla Payne (1-2) both had the other hits.

Kerrigan Payne fell to 15-3 on the season as she went the distance and allowed two runs on five hits, while striking out nine.

In the win over Hardin County, Lydia Miller improved to 5-0 in the circle. The junior faced 16 batters and allowed two runs on two hits, while striking out six and walking three.

Madeline Rider and Davis were both 3-for-4 and drove in one run. MaKayla Payne was also 3-for-4, while Lexie Williams and King were both 2-for-4. Williams drove in three runs and King drove in two. Haley Sullivan and Hannah Reid were each 2-for-3, while MaKayla Payne was 1-for-3 with three RBI.

Harrisburg (20-3) played Herrin on Monday. The Bulldogs are scheduled to be at Massac County on Tuesday, followed by a home game against Murphysboro on Friday.
