Mitchell, Mosby named to BDC East All-Conference Team

The Black Diamond Conference East recently revealed its All-Conference Girls' Basketball Team and this year, included two players from Eldorado.

The Eagles' tandem of Lexie Mitchell and Lilly Mosby, joined eight others who made up this year's All-Conference Team.

Edwards County's Malia Schmittler was named Most Valuable Player in the East, while Anna Miller (Hamilton County and Mackenzie Conrad (Fairfield) were named Co-Captains.

This season, Mitchell averaged just over 13 points per game. The 5-foot-6 sophomore guard played in 28 games and scored 386 points. She also pulled down 149 rebounds and had 67 steals on the season.

At the free throw line, Mitchell shot 82 percent, knocking down 136-of-165 shots.

Mosby, a 5-foot-10 freshman, averaged 11.5 points per game as she scored 347 points in 30 games. Mosby hauled in a team-high 173 rebounds and had 37 steals and like Mitchell was very good at the free throw line, finishing the season with a 78 percent shooting mark, hitting 81-of-104 foul shots.

Malia Schmittler was joined by teammate Maddie Hout on the BDC East All-Conference team, while Julia Smith represented Carmi-White County.

Fairfield's Rachel Jennings joined teammate and Co-Captian, Conrad, while Hamilton County got Kaleigh Dodson, Grace Luke and Miller.

Miller was also an Honorable Mention player on the Associated Press Illinois Girls 2A Basketball Team. Miller, a 5-foot-4 senior guard, led Hamilton County at 13 points per game, to go along with, three rebounds, three steals and two assists.

On the Black Diamond Conference West, Chester's Destiny Williams was named MVP, while Sesser-Valier's Sami McCowen was named Captain.

Joining McCowen from Sesser-Valier was Peyton Wilderman and Jackie McCowen, along with Goreville's Lexi King and Payton Sopczak and Vienna's Haleigh Keeling, Addison Benton and Alyssa Jones. Christopher's Andrea Miller rounded out the list.
