Eagles close out regular season 1-1

Eldorado closed out the regular season splitting a pair of games.

The Eagles lost to Mt. Carmel 72-64 Saturday night and picked up a Black Diamond Conference win Thursday night, beating Edwards County 93-81.

Against Mt. Carmel Saturday night, Paige Munds led the way with 16 points, while Jade Hise, the lone senior, who was recognized in the regular season finale, had 15 points. Lexie Mitchell tacked on 12 points and Lilly Mosby finished with 10 points.

Emma Wargel netted nine points and Lacey Hobbs finished with two points.

In the win over Edwards County, Mosby scored a career-high 35 points and was one of three other Eagles to finish in double figures.

Mitchell chipped in with 17 points, while Wargel scored 16 points and Munds finished with 14 points. Jade Hise also scored for Eldorado, tossing in four points.

EHS shot 82 percent from the floor, making 29-of-35 foul shots.

Eldorado, the No. 6 seed at this week's Vienna Regional, will play No. 4 seed Vienna on Wednesday at 7:30 p.m. The championship is slated for 7 p.m. Thursday.

>b>Harrisburg 45, Herrin 39</b>

Harrisburg closed out its portion of the regular season with a 45-39 win at Herrin.

The Bulldogs put two players in double figures as Madeline Rider led the way with 13 points, while Brooke Meylor tacked on 10 points.

Alli Ferrell added eight points for Harrisburg, while Karsyn Davis scored six points. Summer Sanders finished with five points and Essence Sanders tacked on three in the win.

Harrisburg went 14-for-34 from the field, shooting 41 percent and were 5-of-18 from 3-point range for 27 percent and went 12-of-18 from the free throw line.

Harrisburg held Herrin to 28 percent shooting as the Tigers went 13-for-45 from the field. The Bulldogs also outrebounded Herrin 29-24 and forced the Tigers into nine turnovers.

The Bulldogs finish the regular season 26-5 and will play the winner of Carmi-White County or Du Quoin at the Wayne City Regional Tuesday at 6 p.m.

<b>WEDNESDAY</b>

<b>Pope County 55, Galatia-Thompsonville 44</b>

Kate Bond had 17 points and grabbed a team-high 10 rebounds for Galatia-Thompsonville in a losing effort, falling to Pope County 55-44 at the Greater Egyptian Conference girls' basketball tournament Wednesday night at Hardin County High School.

Maddie McFarland and Chloe Mayes each scored six points for G-T, while Bailey Crisp and Jaedyn Beers each finished with four points. Crisp also had 10 rebounds for the Bearcats. Ava Isaacs had two points.

Galatia-Thompsonville plays Cobden Monday in the first round of the Elverado Regional.
