Massac Co. cruises by Harrisburg

Zach Travis and Julian Russell led the charge for Massac County Friday night as the No. 2 seed in this year's Eldorado Holiday Tournament got a pair of 21-point performances from the pair of juniors and beat Harrisburg 85-59 at Davenport Gymnasium in SIRR Ohio action.

Paducah Tilghman transfer Marshon Merriel scored 16 points for the Patriots, while Hayden Lee tacked on 10 to also finish in double figures.

JJ Sweatt netted nine for MCHS, while Matthew Yates and Kaleb Reamer each tossed in three points. Kyle McIntosh finished with two points.

The Patriots knocked down 11 triples on the night and went 14-for-20 from the foul line.

Harrisburg put four players in double figures as Zayne Hayes and Will Gibbs both had 12 points. Will Sanders finished with 11 points, while Jesse Lawler tacked on 10 points. Andrew Bittle had thee 3-pointers for nine points, while Connor Phalin had three points and Darion Barners finished with two points.

Harrisburg was outmatched 19-11 on field goals, but the Bulldogs sank eight 3-pointers, while going 13-for-17 from the free throw line.

On Saturday night, Harrisburg dropped a 73-60 contest to SIRR counterpart Du Quoin.

Bittle led the way with a team-high 15 points, while Barners and Gibbs both scored 13 points for the Bulldogs, who are now 2-6 overall.

Sanders scored 11 points, while Hayes had two points and Ben Brombaugh tossed in a free throw.

Eldorado 64, Johnston City 24

Eldorado jumped out to a 25-6 lead and led 33-13 at halftime en route to a 64-24 win at Johnston City Friday night.

The Eagles put two players in double figures as Ladayyea Shewmaker scored a game-high 17 points, while Aiden Whitlock added 11 in the win.

Joe Mayberry and Hunter Sizemore each netted nine points, while Nolan Milligan scored seven points. Bradley Boulds finished with five points, while Jace Jenkins, Townsend Barton and Nolan Henson each tacked on two points.
