Logan men ranked nationally

The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) first national regular season coaches poll has ranked the John A. Logan men's basketball team 13th in the nation. The Massey Computer Ranking service ranks the Volunteers 8th nationally.

"It is great to be nationally recognized for the team's accomplishments," said Logan Coach Kyle Smithpeters. "Our young men have shown great pride and hard work to get off to a 9-1 start including the road overtime win at Three Rivers and to the wins over Moberly and Wabash Valley all in a four day period. The Massey Ranking includes a lot more information including the strength of schedule and offensive and defensive efficacy."

No other Great Rivers Athletic Conference team is ranked in the top 20. District 16 rival Vincennes, the only team to beat Logan, is ranked 3rd nationally in the NJCAA ranking.

Logan returns to action on Saturday playing on the road at Southeastern Illinois, 3 p.m. The next home game will be Dec. 15 at 3 p.m., against Lewis & Clark.
