Lady Panthers lose twice at Nashville tourney

NASHVILLE - The Pinckneyville High School girls basketball team lost twice at Nashville's tournament on Saturday, falling to Collinsville (57-29) and Benton (47-46) to drop to 2-2 for the season.

Collinsville jumped out to a 20-2 lead on the Lady Panthers in the first quarter, then extended the lead to 41-13 before the halftime break.

Megan Breslin led Pinckneyville with 10 points. She was the only Lady Panther with more than four points. Pinckneyville had 36 turnovers in the loss.

The second game was tied at halftime and Pinckneyville surged to a nine-point lead in the third quarter, but the Rangerettes went on a 17-7 run to close the game and win by a point.

Kenzie Rushing and Bella Pasquino both had 14 points for Pinckneyville. Breslin had five.
