Eagles make it a three-peat at Vienna Classic

For the third straight season, Eldorado started the season 5-0 and winners of the Vienna Classic.

With a retooled lineup, Josh Bradley and company went to Vienna and knocked off the host Eagles, as well as, Century, Carrier Mills-Stonefort, Cobden and Galatia.

The Eldorado duo of Joe Mayberry and Aiden Whitlock were also named to the All-Tournament Team.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort got its first win of the season, beating Galatia.

Eldorado knocked off Galatia 66-40

In the Eagles' win over Galatia Saturday night in the finale of the Vienna Classic, Eldorado put three players in double figures as Ladayyea Shewmaker netted a game-high 19 points, while Hunter Sizemore scored 17 rebounds, including three 3-pointers on the night. Aiden Whitlock tacked on 10 to round out the double-figure scoring.

Nolan Milligan added eight points for Eldorado, while Jace Jenkins finished with five points.

Bradley Boulds tacked on three points, while Jeremy Boulds and Joe Mayberry both had two points.

Galatia was led by a team-high 16 points from A.J. Hankins.

Hankins was the only Bearcat to score in double figures as Zane Carlile added eight points, Dominic Ammon scored six points and Allen Marvel tossed in three points.

Carrier Mills-Stonefort 59, Century 48

Carrier Mills-Stonefort put three players in double figures, highlighted by a game-high 20 points from Caden VanMeter as the Wildcats knocked off Century 59-48 in the final night at the Vienna Classic Saturday.

Rostin Lewis and Zavier Rollins both had 11 points for the Wildcats, while Aidan Rollins netted nine points and Trey Collins added eight points.

FRIDAY

Eldorado 48, Coben 43

Mayberry had a game-high 20 points and Whitlock tacked on 13 to propel Eldorado to a 48-43 win over Cobden Friday night at the Vienna Classic.

Shewmaker scored seven points, while Milligan finished with four points. Bryant Byrd and Jenkins both finished with two points.

Noah Franklin was the lone Appleknocker to score double digits as the 6-foot-5 sophomore forward scored 18 points.

Vienna 55, Carrier Mills-Stonefort 50

CMSF was led by a career-high 23 points from VanMeter, while Lewis scored seven points. Colton Mitchell and Jeremy Choat each scored six points, while Scott Godsey and Collins each tacked on three points. Brandon Hambleton had two points for the Wildcats.

Carter Bishop and Zane Hutchison each had 13 points for the Eagles.

WEDNESDAY

Mayberry was one of two other players to score in double figures as Eldorado knocked off Vienna 64-36 Wednesday night.

Mayberry had a game-high 22 points, while Whitlock netted 19 in the win and Shewmaker scored 11 to round out the double-figure scoring.

Byrd scored seven points for the Eagles, while Milligan tacked on two points and Sizemore tossed in a free throw.

TUESDAY

Whitlock had a career-high 20 points and Eldorado put two other players in double figures as the Eagles knocked off Carrier Mills-Stonefort 62-25.

Also notching double digits for Eldorado was Mayberry (13) and Sizemore (11).

Jenkins and Milligan both had five points for the Eagles, while Byrd finished with four points. Shewmaker tossed in two points.

VanMeter had a team-high eight points for Carrier Mills-Stonefort (0-2), while Lewis and Zavier Rollins each finished with four points. Mitchell, Choat, Aiden Rollins and Rielly Ward all had two points. Nathan Collins tossed in a free throw for the Wildcats.
