Du Quoin volleyball cruises past Trico

DU QUOIN - The Du Quoin High School volleyball team cruised to a 25-11, 25-8 non-conference win over Trico on Monday night.

Meryn Gross had 23 assists, with Elizabeth Bird putting down 11 kills and three blocks.

Also collecting kills were Haley Williams (5), Lauren Heape (4), Lauren Cravens (4), Olivia Dill (3) and Gross (2). Williams also had two blocks.

Katie Smith served eight aces, including a string of five in a row, and still had nine digs.

Braylyn Funk had eight digs and both Morgan Bullar and Grace Alongi had seven.

Du Quoin improved to 21-11 with the win.

The Lady Indians played at Anna-Jonesboro on Tuesday and host Nashville on Thursday.
