Wildcats edge Lions with lone shot

CARTERVILLE -- Freshman Hamzah Baker scored from an assist by Tyson Stoecklin to lift the Marion High School boys soccer team to a 1-0 win over Carterville-Herrin on the road Tuesday evening.

Baker's buried boot in the seventh minute was the only shot on goal for the Wildcats in the match held at Cannon Park.

Marion is now 2-2-1.

Camden Dodds was in goal for the shutout, which saw the Lions take 10 corner kicks and four shots on goal.
