Bulldogs start season on right foot

Davenport gym was blazing Tuesday night and as a result, the Harrisburg volleyball team was on fire, as all three levels won in two sets against rival Eldorado in non-conference action.

The Harrisburg freshmen won 25-20 and 26-24, while the junior varsity team was a 25-12 & 25-23 winner.

In the varsity game, Harrisburg took Game One 25-16 & Game Two 25-11.

The Bulldog seniors dominated the floor as libero Mackenzie Marshall led the night defensively digging up 11 bats. Marshall also served up four aces on the night. Madeline Rider had seven kills, four digs and one ace on the night, while setter Devin Butler had 21 assist, one kill and a couple of digs. Josie Drone added six kills offensively, while junior Victoria Thai chipped in with two aces and six digs for Harrisburg. Sophomore middles Carlea Fuerback and Autumn Rain Harrawood put three kills down a piece for the night with Fuerback adding in a stuff block. On the weak side, Lauryn Gribble also added one to the kill column for the Lady Dogs.

"Overall, it was a good night," Harrisburg head coach Heather Cox said. "The girls played tough in ridiculously warm conditions. We get some much needed time off the rest of the week after playing six games in four days."

Harrisburg returns to action Tuesday at home against Marion.
