Smith signs scholarship papers wtih Lindenwood-Belleville

A week four injury to Harrisburg's Hunter Smith meant the end of his season.

For the senior, it was nearly as devasting to him as it was for the Bulldogs.

Still though, the 6-feet, 160-pound featured tailback in the Harrisburg offense made SIRR Ohio All-Conference and received three offers from various university's.

One of Smith's fears was that those school's might back out. They didn't.

Lindenwood-Belleville recently signed Smith to a football scholarship, where he says he is looking forward to getting back on the grass.

"Signing with Lindenwood felt really good," Smith said. "I chose Lindenwood because they have a great coaching staff and I really like the area. I want to make a big impact on the field when my number is called. The coaching staff and training staff have both talked to me and the offensive coordinator really liked my versatility and told me I would fit in perfectly with their system."

Smith added that with the injury and being a freshman that red-shirting is an option.

"After the injury, I need to prepare myself and I need to make sure I'm in shape and continue to lift, as well as, get stronger in all aspects of the game."

Position wise, Smith said he loves the idea of being a running back, but he would also like to play wide receiver. He believes Lindenwood will try him at both, but noted he will play where they see him making the best fit at.

"All I know is I want to play and contribute," Smith said. "I feel like I'm very versatile and you can place me in many positions."

Smith said he plans on majoring in physical therapy and after Lindenwood go to a physical therapy school and get his doctorate.
