Goodley shines on course and in classroom

Ashton Goodley had as close to a perfect year as you could have.

Perfect being the operative word.

After finishing the 2017-18 school year with a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average, the Austin Peay State University student-athlete led the Lady Governors golf team with a 77.33 stroke average this season and was the low individual three times and had three Top 10 finishes, ultimately earning first-team All-OVC honors.

It didn't stop there.

Goodley was also recently named to the 2017-18 Google Cloud Academic All-District Women's At-Large Team, selected by the College Sports Information Directors of America.

Goodley was also the one of three other APSU students named to the team, joining women's tennis athletes Brittney Covington and Lidia Yanes Garcia as first-team selections in District 3 which includes Division I schools in North Carolina, Tennessee and Virginia. It is Austin Peay's largest group of All-District Women's At-Large selections in any year.

This spring, Goodley finished 22nd overall at the OVC women's golf championships after rounds of 84-79-75-238, where she finished at 22-over-par, competing in the Robert Trent Jones at the Shoals in Muscle Shoals, Alabama.

First-team Academic All-District honorees advance to the Google Cloud Academic All-America ballot, with first- and second-team Academic All-America honorees to be announced in June. The Google Cloud Academic All-America program recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the field and in the classroom.
